KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo YWCA will be hosting a Women’s March focused on diversity in the city on Saturday, January 18.
According to the YWCA website, the Women’s March is meant to “harness the power of diverse women in our community to create transformative social change.” The theme of the march is “Building Power Together.”
The event is being planned with several community members on the same day that similar marches will take place nationwide.
Women’s March Kalamazoo starts at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bronson Park. The March will continue onward on a designated route until noon, at which time the march will stop at First Congregational Church for a series of presentations.
The guest speakers scheduled to speak include State Rep. Sarah Anthony (District 68).
A series of performance groups are also scheduled to appear during the event.
The YWCA will also use this event as an opportunity to collect donations for Women’s personal care items, as well as monetary donations.
