ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Citizens of Allegan are concerned that there may be a cat killer on the loose in the area.
The concerns stem from a mutilated cat found by a customer inside a local Shell station dumpster on Friday, January 10.
No suspects have been identified due to a lack of cameras on the dumpster area.
On the Allegan Informed Facebook page, some citizens have said that this may not be the only incident. Comments suggest that other mutilated cats have been found in trash cans around town.
However, the Allegan County Police Department has said that there are no reported cases of these mutilated cats. The manager of the Shell believes this may be due to the responding officer not taking a report on the matter.
Any suspect convicted of torturing or killing an animal could see a felony charge of up to ten years in prison, among other applicable fines.
