CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Calhoun County say that a suspect accused of concealing the death of her mother has taken a plea deal.
Marcia Lutz was previously accused of burying the body of her mother, Phyllis Lutz, in the backyard of her home on 4 mile road in Leroy Township. She was facing a felony count of concealing a death and a misdemeanor for failing to report a body.
Under the plea agreement, Lutz will be facing the felony charge, but the misdemeanor count has been dropped.
The case originally came to the attention of police when members of Phyllis’ church, the First Christian Church in Emmet Township, reported that she had not been seen for months.
Marcia Lutz is also accused of embezzling between $20,000 and $40,000 from this same church.
Marcia Lutz is currently scheduled for sentencing on Friday, February 28th.
