KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that took place outside a restaurant near downtown Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that 52-year-old Victor Simon Davis was killed during the incident. The gunman suspected of shooting Davis fled the scene and is currently at large as officers continue there search.
Public Safety officers were called to the Fish Express on Riverview Drive near Hotop Avenue in the Eastside Neighborhood just before 9 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a shooting.
When they arrived they found a 52-year-old Kalamazoo man suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted life-saving measures but the victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Reports say the suspect took off on foot and officers have been going door to door in the area trying to collect more information. A K-9 track was also launched to search the scene.
The restaurant was taped off Wednesday night and authorities were seen investigating a black Cadillac in the parking lot which was apparently where the victim was located.
Police are continuing to search for a suspect, and no information regarding there identity or potential whereabouts has been released at this time.
