KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A boil water advisory has been placed for the area around Kingston Avenue in Kalamazoo after a water main break potentially puts other pipes at risk.
The precautionary measure was issued by city officials on Thursday, January 9th for the following areas:
Kingston Avenue from Portage Street (western boundary) to Moreland Street (eastern boundary) on both sides of the street. The advisory does not affect the southwest and northwest corners of Kingston Avenue and Moreland Street.
Additionally, Portage Street’s northeast corner at Kingston Avenue is also effected by the advisory.
The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department says that any water intended for drinking or ingestion should be boiled until the measure is lifted. In a statement officials said that the advisory is expected to be lifted within 72 hours, or on January 12th.
