KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A traffic stop in the first hour of 2020 resulted in the arrest of an armed suspect in Kalamazoo’s West Douglas Neighborhood.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Fox Ridge Drive outside the Fox Ridge Apartments off of Alamo Avenue.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were investigating a shots fired complaint and pulled over a vehicle but when it stopped the front seat passenger jumped out and fled into a nearby building while dropping a loaded magazine from a handgun.
Authorities chased the 21-year-old suspect down, located him inside the building, and took him into custody for multiple felony charges. The discarded firearm was also seized.
