COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM)– Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies have identified the man whose body they discovered at a Comstock Township home on Sunday.
The individual has been identified as 38-year-old Lyle Timothy Hess of Kalamazoo. Hess was found unconscious before police were called to the 5500 block of Electra Street just before 4 p.m. Sunday, December 29th.
Now, friends of Hess say that meth use may have played a role in his death, but an exact cause has not yet been determined by authorities.
Danny Campbell wrote on his Facebook page tagging Hess and saying, “Please listen everybody we are losing family and friends to drugs and violence let’s make a joint effort this meth madness must stop…So heartbroken Lyle Hess,s mom just wanted him home to stop using and to get away from the folks who were still using…”
A 30-year-old woman, who was apparently Hess’ girlfriend, was taken into custody in connection with the death investigation but according to police she has been released from custody and was never officially charged.
Investigators are still waiting for toxicology results from the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner’s Office.
This case continues to be investigated and anyone with additional information should contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office or Silent Observer.
