LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan citizens will see an increase in minimum wage beginning in 2020.
As of January 1,2020, the minimum wage will see a 20 cent increase to $9.65 an hour. Additionally, tipped jobs will be increased by 8 cents, making a total of $3.67 an hour.
Previously, former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder had signed legislation into law in 2014 for minimum wage increases.
Following the bill passage, amendments were made by lawmakers that will call for a total minimum wage of $12.05 an hour by 2030, with tipped workers making $4.58 by the same year.
The minimum pay for workers aged 16-17 in the state will receive an increased total of $7.86 an hour.
