BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – A 20 year old Battle Creek man, who was reportedly traveling at nearly 100 miles per hour, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo after he crashed his car at Michigan and Washington avenues around 11:10 p.m. Christmas Eve.
Battle Creek Police say they believe the man was traveling westbound at nearly when his small sedan collided with an SUV at the intersection. The car then struck a power pole on the northwest corner of the intersection and rolled over before catching fire.
According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, a Battle Creek officer was near the intersection when the crash occurred and he and several other officers responded with fire extinguishers before Battle Creek firefighters arrived.
The man was trapped in the wreckage but was freed by firefighters using power tools.
Police said the occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
