KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Humane Society is looking for happy homes for almost three dozen cats after they were found crammed into small cages.
On Tuesday a Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement officer brought 31 adult cats and two kittens into the shelter after they were all found crammed into only three cages at one location. One cage had up to 17 cats in it.
The blue-grey and black cats were given medical exams and appear to be healthy. Several were recently spayed or neutered by the humane society.
Officers are launching an investigation and officials with the humane society say timely spay and neuter procedures could have prevented this many cats from accumulating in one home.
