KALMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — City officials in Kalamazoo have issued a boil water advisory as crews respond to a water main break on Cooper Avenue.
The precautionary measure was announced on the morning of Thursday, December 19th. The city says that the break has led to a temporary loss of pressure to the area, and to ensure safety area residents affected are asked to boil water or stear clear of use until waterflow is returned to normal.
Areas advised not to use city water temporarily include Kalamazoo Township’s Cooper Avenue from Dearborn Avenue to Charles Avenue, the southeast corner of Dearborn Avenue and Cooper Avenue, and the southwest and southeast corners of Kenilworth Avenue and Cooper Avenue.
As of thursday afternoon, crews are busy monitoring the water supply and repairing the break. Samples from the site have not indicated any bacteria contamination found near the site of the water main under repair.
City officials say they expect the advisory will be lifted with 72 hours, or around early on Sunday.
