KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo has announced plans for a New Year’s Eve celebration in the downtown area ahead of the Christmas holiday.
New Year’s Fest will feature entertainment including live music in the vein of jazz and R&B, among others. Other types of entertainment will include theater acts, magic shows, comedy routines, and more.
All events take place in the downtown area within the vicinity of Bronson Park, meaning that participants will be able to choose their own New Year’s Eve experiences.
The performances will culminate in the Ball Drop ceremony that will begin at City Hall 11:45 p.m. A firework display will be included in the ceremony.
In order to participate in the entertainment events, a special button must be purchased and worn visibly for admittance. If purchased in advance and in person from participating locations, buttons will only be $7. If purchased online, they will be $8.50, and $10 if purchased on the day of.
Buttons will be available to purchase in Bronson Park beginning at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31st. Children 3 and under will be admitted for free.
A button is not required to view the ball drop and firework display.
New Year’s Fest is hosted on December 31st from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.
