KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Western Michigan University will award around 1,700 degrees during a series of commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 14th.
Leading the ceremonies will be WMU President Edward Montgomery. Diplomas set to be distributed will include 1,256 at the bachelor’s level, 392 at the master’s level and 43 at the doctoral level.
Graduates this semester include more than 60 military veterans, plus international students from about 40 countries.
The University has released a schedule of events for each school division:
- The 9 a.m. ceremony is for graduates of the College of Education and Human Development, College of Fine Arts and College of Health and Human Services.
- The noon ceremony is for graduates of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Haworth College of Business.
- The 3 p.m. ceremony is for graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Aviation and Extended University Programs.
All commencement ceremonies are ticketed events which must be obtained prior. Students graduating can reserve a set amount of tickets. According to the WMU website, the final day to reserve tickets was on Dec. 9th.
All ceremonies can be streamed live online, as well. More information about how to do so can be found at this link. Viewing screens will also be available in Brown Hall 2028, located next to Miller Auditorium.

Locally, the ceremonies will be broadcast on Public Media Network Channel 191, a local public access channel available on the Charter Communications commercial cable television system.
Free parking will be available on campus in all parking areas adjacent to Miller Auditorium. Attendees using a GPS can use the address 2200 Auditorium Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49008 for travel.
