KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo resident is in custody after shots were fired in the city’s South Westnedge Neighborhood.
Public Safety officers responded to the 200 block of Pierce Avenue near South Rose Street around 10:45 p.m. Monday after reports of shots fired. There they located several casings in the roadway but no victims.
A witness said they saw a white sedan leaving the scene after the gunshots. Officers gathered more information and were able to identify the suspect.
Several hours later, around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies located the suspect in the 4900 block of Sprinkle Road near East N Avenue.
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and for an outstanding warrant.
Additional charges are also being sought. The suspect’s name has not been released.
