KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo has announced that all 48 Candy Cane displays posted in an online auction have been sold.
Previously, the City had replaced the candy cane displays used in Bronson Park for the holiday season. The new candy canes stand straight up, rather than on an incline to create a closed walkway.
Following public backlash, the City decided to save some of the canes for a separate display in the park.
The remaining candy canes were sold in an online auction through Biddergy.
The candy canes were all purchased by 18 separate high bidders, but around 1,000 bidders all participated in the auction. Each cane was sold for around $200 each.
All profits will go back into the City with Biddergy receiving a bidding compensation.
