VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott has announced that he will be a special guest on the TV show “Live PD,” which broadcasts on the A&E network.
The TV show features law enforcement officers from across the country talking about their various field experiences. The producers of the show asked Abbott to be a guest upon learning of a car chase he was involved in.
Sheriff Abbott made the announcement via email, which can be read in full below:
“I will be flying out of Grand Rapids next Tuesday and returning Thursday from New York. Several news media folks asked me to get something out on this upcoming event.
Live PD saw the car chase, Pit Maneuver from August 16th that I was involved in, and reached out about flying me to New York to set in their studio for a day to do a story on it for them to air.
It’s an all-expenses paid trip from them so no tax payers money is being used.
The show will air some time in March or April, and the producer will give the that date once they have it so I can get it back out to the media.
I will be the first Law Enforcement Officer from Michigan to be on the show and there has been less than 10 Sheriff’s nation wide that have been asked to be on there.
Without doing the research, one of the producers thought I was only the third Sheriff to be on there.
The suspect in the case is lodged at our facility on several charges which include flee and elude, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, arson, and operating a vehicle with a high blood alcohol content.”
