UNDATED, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Certain brands of pre-packaged sushi are being recalled in Michigan and elsewhere in the country due to concerns of listeria contamination.
Officials of the company Fuji Food Products, Inc. announced a voluntary recall on certain brands that it sells Wednesday.
The products sold under the brand names Okami and Trader Joe’s are the two being recalled.
The discovery was made during a routine inspection by the FDA at a Brockton, MA facility. Officials say that this is the first recall in the history of the company.
“As responsible processors of safe, fresh food for nearly 30 years, we are addressing this problem vigorously and we apologize to those who are affected by it,” Fuji Food Products CEO Farrell Hirsch said in a statement. “We will restart operation only after we have eliminated the cause and the FDA certifies that our facility is once again free of possible contamination.”
