BATTLE CREEK, MI. (WKZO AM/FM) — The city commission of Battle Creek is rebranding their public airport as part of plan to make it an economic development tool for the city.
The W.K. Kellogg Airport will now be renamed the Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field.
The move comes after commissioners reviewed a strategic business plan from 2017 that laid out several objectives to make the airport an economic engine for the city. One of the goals included rebranding the airport to prominently feature the name of the city.
The publicly owned facility celebrated it’s 95th birthday this year, and welcomed the expansion of Western Michigan University’s aviation program which utilizes the airport’s hangers and runways.
