LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — State Lawmakers have introduced a bill that would expand the current firearm deer season.
The intruduction of this bill comes in the wake of a drop in revenue generated from the sale of hunting licenses over the past year. The bill would expand firearm season to November 5th to December 1st to make up for lost revenue. The current season runs from November 15th to the 30th.
According the Michigan Natural Department of Resources, deer license sales were down about 18% from 2008.
The sales generate about $40 million dollars for the state.
