KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners has opted to delay a decision in hiring a new corporate counsel until next week.
The decision to hold off on a solution for the time being was made during a meeting Tuesday night.
Previously, the Board had unanimously voted to fire former Corporate Counsel Elizabeth White during a meeting on Nov. 6th.
Following her termination, White filed a lawsuit against the board, saying her termination was unlawful.
During a meeting Tuesday, Commissioners weighed various choices on how to proceed. Options range from moving the Corporate Counsel position to a different office or to leave the system as is, in which the Counsel reports to board members.
Despite the options discussed, the Board was unable to come to a final decision. The board instead opted to move the decision to a special meeting next week.
Commissioners are expected to come to a final decision on Tuesday, Nov. 26th.
