KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Newly-elected Mayor David Anderson, along with new commissioners Jeanne Hess and Chris Praedel experienced their first official city meeting Monday night post-election.
Praedel praised the helpfulness of the city staff while he was being oriented in his new position.
“I just wanted to take a moment to both thank our colleagues, but also the city staff for being very patient with us as the newbies on the commission,” Praedel said. “City staff stayed late for about three hours last week providing us with our new commissioner orientation. I want to thank city staff for their time last week to spend with us in answering our questions.
Commissioner Hess also echoed Praedel’s comments.
“There will be a learning curve, and I look forward to all of the time that we’re going to spend together learning this,” Hess said.
Mayor Anderson ended his first meeting by wishing Kalamazoo citizens a happy holiday season.
“We will be all celebrating Thanksgiving one way or another in recognizing the benefits that we do have in our lives, our friends, our family,” Anderson said. “I do want to make sure that during this time of Thanksgiving, we make sure that we are taking care of each other, and once again, not leaving people out and that we celebrate with Kindness.”
The commissioners will meet again next month after the Thanksgiving season is over.
