KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — ‘Tis the season for the Maple Hill Kalamazoo Holiday Parade!
Marketing and Engagement Director for the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership Sue Huggett says parade goers will want to get there early Saturday morning, bundle up, and find a good spot along the normal downtown loop.
The route kicks off at 10:45 a.m. at the Bronson Healthcare Parking Lot and then runs from Lovell to Park, to Michigan, to Pitcher, and finishes back on Lovell.
She says there will be a variety of floats, balloons, marching bands and a number of local businesses and community organizations.
Parade goers can also bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
Our Midwest Communications team will be part of the parade! Look for the Santa balloon. We will also be broadcasting live in front of the new Exchange Building across from the Radisson beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Huggett says the parade may be a little longer this year and should wrap up around 12:30 p.m.
There will be a number of post-parade events also going on along the Kalamazoo Mall, at the WOOD-TV studios, and more. The Holly Jolly Trolley will also be running from 1-3 p.m. Saturday offering free rides throughout downtown on and old fashion trolley, decorated for the holiday season.
Looking for someone in the parade? A parade lineup can be found here.
Those looking to park and leave the parade early should remember to not park within the parade route to avoid being trapped inside when roads begin to close. Metered parking is free on the weekends.
