MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – It turns out the Marshall Kmart store will be the last one standing for the retailer in the state of Michigan.
Kmart is shutting down its last two stores in southeast Michigan in Warren and Waterford Township.
Ironically, Kmart started in Michigan in 1962 with the first store located in Garden City, but will soon have no stores open in the metro Detroit area.
The company filed for bankruptcy in October 2018.
A total of 96 more store closings were announced by the parent company of Sears and Kmart on Thursday. Going out of business sales are expected to start in early December.
