KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — In the wake of a recent lawsuit against Founder’s Brewing Company alleging a racist corporate culture, many bars and establishments have pulled Founder’s products from their shelves.
In Kalamazoo, however, downtown establishment Shakespeare’s Pub is taking a different approach. Rather than getting rid of their Founder’s-based inventory, Shakespeare’s will be donating all proceeds to charity.
The pub made the announcement in a Facebook post Monday.
“We have researched many charities within our area that focus on dismantling racism,” the post reads. “There are so many great charities and it was very hard to choose, but we are proud to say, that we loved the vision and mission of ERACCE, Eliminating Racism and Creating/Celebrating Equity. Shakespeare’s is going to donate profits from the sales of our stored kegs of KBS, CBS, and Curmudgeon’s Better Half to this great charity. Every snifter sold from these kegs will have its profits donated to ERACCE. We will tap the first keg today.”
“Treat people with respect, show compassion, and honor them their dignity,” the post adds. “That shouldn’t be hard to do.”
A representative from Shakespeare’s Pub could not immediately be reached for comment.
