EMMETT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The man accused of assaulting a woman in downtown Kalamazoo is pleading not guilty.
30-year-old Trenell Haley was arraigned Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault after an incident that occurred Saturday night near East Michigan Avenue and Farmer’s Alley.
The Judge said that Haley punched a woman several times in the face, threw her on the ground, and fled when a passerby intervened.
He was arrested on Wednesday and denied a bond that would’ve allowed him to be released from jail on the promise that he returns to court.
If convicted, Haley could spend up to a year in jail and pay a $1,000 fine.
