KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a suspected drunk driver smashed into a Kalamazoo County police cruiser in Kalamazoo Township.
The deputy was making a routine traffic stop on Gull Road near Brock Street early Friday morning when another vehicle rammed into the back of their cruiser as the deputy jumped onto the hood and out of the way.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says the suspect then attempted to flee the scene, “leaving a wheel under the patrol vehicle,” later crashing into a tree.
The at-fault driver, who has not yet been charged, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and the deputy was not hurt.
