KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has announced that they will soon begin accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Officer.
KDPS is planning two separate “Meet and Greet” events that are meant to discuss the next hiring process.
Interested citizens will have the opportunity to meet current officers and learn what KDPS and the City of Kalamazoo have to offer in terms of a career.
The two “Meet and Greet” events are listed as follows:
- Cookie’s Five Star Grill located at 712 Douglas Ave., Kalamazoo, MI on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Walnut & Park Café coffee shop located at 322 W. Walnut St., Kalamazoo, MI on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
KDPS will begin accepting online applications for the Public Safety Officer position between October 30, 2019 through November 15, 2019.
An official press release notes that applicants must be a U.S. citizen and have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and be 21 years old at time of appointment (May, 2020). Applicants will also be required to pass a written and physical test, and an extensive background investigation. Applicants are not required to be MCOLES (Police) certified to apply.
