BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Citizens in Battle Creek will soon see a new medical marijuana dispensary in the area beginning this weekend.
According to an official press release, Common Citizen, the lifestyle brand of medical cannabis company Michigan Pure Med, has announced that it will open its second Michigan location in Battle Creek this Friday, Oct. 11.
“Common Citizen is proud to serve the people of the greater Battle Creek area with safe, high-quality cannabis,” CEO of Michigan Pure Med and Common Citizen Michael Elias said in the press release. “We recognize people have unique physical, mental, wellness and creative needs and we encourage patients to visit our new chapter to discover the variety of products we offer.”
The new Common Citizen location will offer several products including flower, oils and edibles which are said to be 100% non-natural additive free. The products are divided up into four categories that are designed to meet the needs of an individual patient.
The new location will also host a grand opening ceremony known as “Common Ground” on Saturday, October 19th. The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. and will feature DJs, prize giveaways, and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
Patients aged 18 and older with a medical marijuana card are welcome to attend, while citizens without a card must be 21 or older to attend.
“At Common Citizen, we’re passionate about giving back to the communities we serve through community events and volunteering with local causes,” Elias added. “Common Ground is our way to say thank you to the Battle Creek community for welcoming us to the area, and we’re excited to meet our new neighbors and patients at our celebration.”
Common Citizen will also offer services such as a Patient Delivery program.
Following the opening of its first location earlier this year, Common Citizen is planning on opening more Michigan locations over time. The press release notes that it will be opening a 200,000-square-foot greenhouse and headquarters facility in Marshall this fall, which is expected to create 400 jobs over the next five years.
Common Citizen will open the doors to its new location on Friday, Oct. 11th. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
