BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Tuesday, the City of Battle Creek will be hosting a scrap tire collection for local citizens at no charge.
Citizens of Battle Creek are encouraged to dispose of unwanted tires through the program. City officials say rims must be removed from the tires, and commercial business tires will not be accepted.
Oversized tires, such as tractor, semi-trailer, and loader tires will also not be accepted.
Citizens are also warned that only ten tires per vehicle will be accepted, as any more than ten requires a registration through the State of Michigan.
Information about a scrap tire hauling registration can be found online at https://www.michigan.gov/statelicensesearch/0,4671,7-180-24786-245022–,00.html.
The collection will begin Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the city’s Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St.
There will be one semi trailer on hand for use in storing tires. The event will end at 7 p.m. or when the trailer is full. No early drop-offs will be allowed.
