LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan’s State School Aid fund is getting a $1 million dollar boost due to an unclaimed winning Powerball ticket.
It expired Thursday, October 3 at 4:45 p.m.
The ticket was purchased at the Speedway gas station located at 10070 Highland Road in Hartland one year ago. Powerball tickets are valid for one year from the date of the drawing.
According to a press release from the Michigan Lottery, this marks the third $1 million dollar prize to go unclaimed for 2019, this after $1 million Mega Millions prizes went unclaimed in March and earlier this month.
In 2018, the Lottery provided more than $941.3 million for Michigan’s public schools, marking its fourth record contribution in a row.
