LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Three people are dead and three others are in critical condition after a plane crash just outside the Lansing airport.
Authorities say the 6-passenger, TBM 700 single-engine plane was flying from Indianapolis to the Capital Region International Airport in Lansing when it went down around 9 a.m. Thursday, about 25-yards west of the airport.
The plane was carrying a pilot, co-pilot, and 4-passengers. Their names have not been released.
During a press conference, Clinton County Sheriff Lawrence Jerue explained that the scene is still an active investigation and so far there is no word on why the plane crashed.
He added that at first look of the scene everything from the plane still appears to be intact including the wings and propeller. There was no fire on board.
The LAN Airport tweeted, “We have a down private non-commercial aircraft to the west of the Airport. The Capital Region International Airport runway and Airport are still open for commercial air service. Airport personnel and mutual aid partners are on scene responding.”
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
