COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is being sentenced to 5-to-20-years in prison for stabbing a victim 27-times in Comstock Township earlier this year.
39-year-old Justin Donovan was initially charged with assault with intent to murder but his charge was reduced to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder when he took a plea deal earlier this month.
Donovan, who has an extensive criminal history, was released from jail just days before he stabbed 25-year-old Kyle Kelley multiple times on Electra Street in Comstock Township in late February.
He was arrested about 3-weeks later after he was found at the Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park in Kalamazoo Township.
Donovan’s sentence will begin after he completes the time he is already spending for violating parole.
