KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Rain may have stopped many events from happening around Kalamazoo this weekend but it isn’t stopping generous donors from giving back.
The Bronson Children’s Hospital 5K Run/Walk was canceled Sunday morning due to inclement weather, but more than 1700 registered participants still helped raise over $167,000 dollars through their fundraising efforts leading up to the event.
Bronson Health Foundation’s Liz Semaan says the money will go towards a range of services at the children’s hospital like child life and art and music therapy. They will also be replacing all of the recliners in patient’s rooms at the NICU.
The run/walk event will not be rescheduled, but a Facebook post will be made and an email will be sent out to all registered participants to give them the opportunity to still pick up their race packets and t-shirts.
All the food that was purchased for the event is now being donated to Ministry with Community.
Those still looking to donate can do so here.
