RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies are investigating a fatal crash that killed a long-serving law enforcement officer for the small village of Nashville.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on North 32nd Street north of East B Avenue in Richland Township.
59-year-old Chris Allen Koster was a deputy, detective, and eventually the Nashville Police Chief for more than 30-years, heading the 4-person police force in the small village.
He was heading to work Thursday in his personal vehicle, traveling on northbound on North 32nd Street when he went off the roadway and struck a tree.
He later died as a result of his injuries.
Officers are still looking into the cause of the crash but they do not believe alcohol played a role.
