LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed a proclamation declaring September 23-27 Clean Energy Week.
“Across our state, we’re seeing cleaner and readily abundant forms of energy powering homes and businesses,” Whitmer said in a press release. “Many Michigan entrepreneurs and small businesses are already leading the way in becoming clean energy leaders. It’s clear that when we prioritize clean energy, we’re investing in Michigan’s economy, our jobs, and public health.”
According to the press release, Michigan leads the Midwest in the number of clean energy jobs and is fifth overall in the nation. The release notes that over 122,000 people are currently employed in the clean energy and energy efficiency sector.
The news comes as The Kalamazoo County Parole and Probation office prepares to install a new solar panel on its property, as well as the recent award of $5,530 to Calhoun County farmer Jerry Allan Motz to install a new solar array system.
