KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A juvenile, a bystander, and a dog are all safe after a water rescue on Kalamazoo’s Northeast side.
Public Safety officers were called to the lake at Spring Valley Park on Mount Olivet Road just after 5 p.m. Saturday after they received reports that a juvenile was calling for help and couldn’t breathe.
When they arrived they found the boy struggling in the water as well as a bystander who swam out to help him but also became exhausted.
A veteran police officer trained in water rescue helped the two and also saved a dog that they later learned was the reason the boy swam out in the first place.
They were all treated and released from the scene.
