KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A West Michigan farmer is fighting for his life in a Grand Rapids hospital since contracting Eastern Equine Encephalites, a rare mosquito borne illness which kills one third of people who get it.
Bill Teichman got the disease less than two weeks ago. But according to his sister-in-law Irene Latack, his health has been improving.
Health officials say there have been three other cases of EEE in Berrien and Kalamazoo Counties combined with one death reported in Kalamazoo County.
