KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating a fire that took place at a multiple occupancy structure Tuesday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the 700 Block of W. Lovell where smoke could be seen coming from a second-floor apartment.
Officers were informed that other residents were still inside and may not be aware of the fire. All residents, including some with limited mobility, were evacuated, and officials were able to control the fire in minutes.
Although only one room of an apartment was damaged by the fire, other rooms were affected by smoke damage.
No civilian or firefighter injuries occurred in the incident.
One resident was displaced and was put in contact with the Red Cross for help. The fire currently remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
