HOPKINS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Rhode Island man already facing charges for taking an Allegan County teen out of the state is now facing additional federal charges.
43-year-old Charles Morancey is expected to appear in federal court on Thursday after he was charged with interstate travel to engage in criminal sexual activity with a minor and receipt of child pornography.
Earlier this month he was apparently communicating with 15-year-old Gracie Hewartson over Instagram and she eventually left a note to her parents saying she was running away when he came to pick her up from her Hopkins Township home.
Morancey faces third-degree sexual assault charges in Rhode Island and faces charges of accosting children for immoral purposes and use of a computer to commit a crime in Michigan.
