CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a motorcycle crash has left one man recovering in a hospital.
According to an official press release, officers responded to the crash shortly after 8 p.m. Monday night. The crash happened on Old 205 near State Line Rd., Mason Township, Cass County Michigan.
Officials have identified the motorcycle operator as 56-year-old Vincent Lee Downs of Elkhart, IN. Downs failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a cornfield.
He was later transported by SEPSA EMS to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Officials say Downs was not wearing a helmet when he crashed, and alcohol is thought to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
