LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and local health departments are investigating six cases of a rare gonorrhea infection that often requires hospitalization.
Four of the confirmed cases of disseminated gonococcal infection are in Kalamazoo County and one is in St. Joseph County, and health officials are reviewing one possible case in Calhoun County.
The rare condition can occur following a sexually transmitted gonorrhea infection, the MDHHS said in a statement. Infected individuals range in age from 20 to 55.
