KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Five candidates are now in the running to fill the vacant seat on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.
This comes after Commissioner Ron Kendall submitted his resignation letter earlier this month, but an exact reason was not officially given.
The commission has 30-days to fill their vacant seat.
13 people expressed their interest for the District 6 seat and on Tuesday Commissioners narrowed it down to 5 names. Candidates only had to email their name and address to the board, so their resumes and more information was not immediately available.
The 13 applicants were: Tom Novak, Jennifer Aniano, Ray Wilson, Paul Foust, Launda Wheatley, Kathy Eickholt, Martin “Jeff” Heppler, Garyl Guidry Jr., Jason Colvin, Christian Chojnowski, Sara Cain, Vince Carahaly, and Raymond Shoup III.
The top 5 candidates are: Jennifer Aniano, Vince Carahaly, Sara Cain, Tom Novak and Raymond Shoup.
Finalist interviews will take place next Tuesday and a new commissioner will be chosen at that meeting.
