KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Kalamazoo have identified Dennis Ostrander as the suspect in a stabbing attack on a clerk in the 3600 block of East Main Street, according to an official press release.
Just after six p.m. Monday, the 56-year-old female clerk confronted Ostrander under suspicion of retail fraud as he was leaving the building. Ostrander stabbed the clerk in the arm and fled on a bike.
Officers located Ostrander near the store, but he was uncooperative and resisted arrest.
Ostrander is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of Armed Robbery, Felony Assault, and Resisting and Obstructing Police.
He has been arraigned in 8th district court as of Tuesday.
The victim was treated at the scene before being transferred to a local hospital, and is reportedly in stable condition.
