ST. JOSEPH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Lake Bluff Park in St. Joseph is seeing a new temporary mural on its entry stairs thanks to a partnership between Edward J. Todd, the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors and St. Joseph Today.
As a part of the 2018 “Chalk the Block” project, a permanent mural was added to the city Welcome Center building, which was created by the Houston-based artist Anat Ronen.
“It was well received and we immediately started planning for the next mural,” executive director of St. Joseph Today Amy Zapal said in a press release.
The partnership was able to work with Ronen again for the staircase mural.
“We wanted something that not only expanded the footprint of Chalk the Block, but of the whole downtown,” Zapal said. “The bluff stairs were the perfect canvas to achieve this goal.”
Despite the fact that the staircase mural is temporary, future permanent murals may be installed as a result.
“A handful of private property owners have expressed interest and support for the ongoing mural project,” Zapal said. “We plan to continue through a variety of partnerships and with the help of local and regional artists.”
