EAST LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) – A map study released by Michigan State University indicates that Michigan may have a lot more sand dunes than first thought.
The new maps show that there are over 230 thousand acres of dunes in the state…more than 2 times the amount thought to exist.
Dr. Alan Arbogast, the chairman of MSU’s geography department, says that the revised maps will assist communities and organizations in helping preserve natural resources they may not have known were there.
