SOUTH HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver is injured and a restaurant near South Haven is severely damaged after a crash over the weekend.
It occurred just after 10 p.m. Sunday when the driver was going through the roundabout at M-43 and 12th Avenue, struck the traffic island, and went airborne, directly into the Maple Grove Bar and Grill.
The restaurant was closed at the time of the crash and the employees cleaning up inside were not injured.
Officials with South Haven Area Emergency Services say the owner was in a nearby kitchen washing dishes and the force of the accident dropped debris on him, but he was not injured.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and the incident is still under investigation.
