PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Another anchor store is closing its doors at the Crossroads Mall in Portage.
Sears Holdings Corporation announced on Tuesday that they will be closing their Portage and Saginaw locations in October as well as 19 other Sears stores and 5 Kmart stores across the U.S.
In a statement Sears wrote, “After careful review of where we are today, we believe the right course for the company is to accelerate the expansion of our smaller store formats which includes opening additional Home & Life stores and adding several hundred Sears Hometown stores after the Sears Hometown and Outlet transaction closes.”
Liquidation sales are expected to begin around August 15.
Sears filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last October and closed about 80 stores throughout the country shortly after.
