KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Demolition has begun on the former Christian Science temple at the corner of South and Park Streets in Kalamazoo.
The building, constructed in 1913, was sold to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in 2006 after the congregation moved to its present location on Portage Street.
Once it’s cleared, the lot will be used as green space. Abatement of asbestos in the structure began earlier this week.
It’s not known how long the demolition will take.
