KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man from Illinois is facing multiple charges after stealing a car from Kalamazoo Township and driving it across the state border.
It happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 1,000 block of Craft Avenue in the Eastwood Neighborhood.
Police say a woman pulled her 2015 Nissan into her driveway and was retrieving items from her car when an armed man wearing a ski mask demanded that she hand over the keys.
The suspect fled southbound and about 8-hours later the vehicle was spotted in Calumet City, Illinois.
Calumet City Police followed the suspect, who eventually crashed into a fire hydrant and attempted to flee on foot, but the 22-year-old man was caught and taken into custody.
