PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — A fiber manufacturer is dealing with thousands of dollars in damages after a structure fire in Portage.
Public Safety officers were called to J. Rettenmaier on Vanderbilt Avenue just after 10 p.m. Wednesday where they located a small fire on top of the building’s roof.
Firefighters say the blaze may have started in one of the units used to shred paper at the plant, which processes recycled paper for various applications.
The flames were under control in about 30-minutes and nobody was injured, but damages are estimated around $10,000.
